Samsung announced Gear S3, its latest smartwatch at IFA 2016. Using two charming models, the smartwatch fits for different users’ lifestyles, and newly added rotating bezel and more advanced hardware bring more comfortable smartwatch experience.
Samsung Gear S3 is available in two models including classic and frontier. Both models measure 46 x 49 x 12.9mm, the frontier weighs 62g and the classic weighs 57g. As we can see from the images, the two smartwatches follow the timeless rounded analog watch design, but the Gear S3 frontier sports a rugged styling that meets your passion for any outdoor activity, while the Gear S3 classic shows off an elegant and minimal appearance.
The smartwatch case comes equipped with a 1.3″ circular Super AMOLED full color always on display with 360 x 360 pixels resolution, 278ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, so it always the time, date, notifications and all info from your smartphone rather than automatically fading to black. The Gear S3 also features a unique rotating bezel that allows you to accept or reject a call or snooze an alarm without touching the screen, and built-in speaker allows you to listen to voice messages and favorite tunes.
Furthermore, Gear S3 comes quipped with built-in GPS, heart rate monitor, barometer, speedometer, accelerometer, and gyro, so it works as a fitness tracker to monitor your daily fitness activities, speed, calories burned, distance, heart rate and everything from altitude and atmospheric pressure to sudden changes in weather.
Similar as Gear S2, the smartwatch runs Tizen based wearable platform 2.3.2, and it features higher performance with its 1.0GHz dual-core processor, 4GB ROM and 768MB RAM, and its 380mAh rechargeable battery offers up to four days of usage on a single charge. In addition, the smartwatch is IP68 water and dust resistance.
