ASCAS, a 17 y/o student and tech builder created the awesome life-size BB-8 droid from scratch. As we can see from the images, the finished BB-8 droid shows off meticulous detailing and accurate colors from its original look in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. More importantly, same as Sphero’s BB-8 droid toy, the homemade BB-8 droid also features built-in electronics so it can be remotely controlled via a smartphone, and life-size body makes the droid more like a cute companion, not just an app-controlled replica.
