Want to record awesome aerial videos, but worry about your drone being shot by someone? Then you may like to use Fotokite Phi, a tethered flying drone carrying your GoPro action camera. No doubt, it will always be next to you.
The Fotokite Phi is an innovative and fun flying drone that measures 90mm height by 350mm diameter and weights 300g, and its foldable design allows you to put the drone in its custom tube and bring it anywhere.
Unlike almost all flying drones on the market, Fotokite Phi utilizes a tether and connected controller as its control system instead of your smartphone or a remote controller. When your Fotokite Phi fly in the air, the tether is always taut, and based on the tension force from the tether, the drone is capable to figure out where it is and maintain a stable position next to you. Furthermore, Fotokite Phi’s rounded controller features built-in inertial measurement unit that allows you to use your gestures to adjust the orientation and position of the drone in the sky.
The flying drone doesn’t have an integrated camera, but using a custom holder, Fotokite Phi works with GoPro Hero 3/3+/4 action cameras or similar form-factor, and you can adjust the recording angle for awesome aerial videos. In addition, the flying drone is powered by a removable rechargeable battery that offers 8-10 minutes of flying time for current prototype, but the developers behind Fotokite Phi are aim for 15-minute flying time.
Fotokite Phi has been available for preorder via Indiegogo. Pledging $299 will let you own the tethered flying drone. BTW, also don’t miss Lily waterproof flying camera drone and more cool drones by following tags.
