We can completely cut off the electricity supply via the integrated on/off switch on a power strip. But the spring-loaded socket called PumPing will give us an automatic way to achieve it. If you’re curious, let’s o on checking.
PumPing is a practical design concept and a 2011 red dot design concept winner, and designed by five talent designers, including Seong Soyeon, Kim Seonmi, Lee Jeongjae, Park Jihye and Lee Yeontaek. as we can see from the images, the spring-loaded part is placed in the center of the socket. When you insert a plug into the socket, the centre spring-loaded part will be compressed, and the round status light will be blue. When your appliance is turned off, the spring-loaded part can eject the plug from the socket just like a toast popping up from a toaster in order to save electricity and prevent from potential danger. Moreover, the status light will change to red. Unfortunately, we have no idea when the design concept will become reality. After the break, check out the images of the spring loaded socket.
