Samsung announced new Gear VR, the successor to its original Gear VR headset. Using a newly added wireless controller, the VR headset brings us a more immersive virtual reality experience.
The new Gear VR is an enhanced VR headset based on original Gear VR released in 2014. The new headset measures 207.8 x 122.5 x 98.6mm and weighs 345g. Compared with its predecessor, the new Gear VR features a more lightweight design plus its padded design and ergonomic contours in order to provide a comfortable wearing experience when you navigate in virtual reality world.
Meanwhile, the VR headset comes equipped with two 42mm diameter optical lens with 101 degrees by 6.25 of field of view for clear and sharp images, and it works with Galaxy S7. S7 edge, Note 5, S6 edge+, S6 and S6 edge smartphones.
More importantly, the new Gear VR features a custom wireless controller. Using its touchpad, you can not only quickly select apps, but also interacts with various objects in VR world by actions like pointing, dragging, dropping, tailoring, shooting and more. The integrated trigger is designed to enhance gaming experience.
Moreover, the home, volume and back keys on the controller are designed for easy to reach, and an included secure wrist grip keeps the controller in place even during the most active movements. In addition, the wireless controller is powered by two AAA batteries that lasts 40 days for 2-hour daily usage.
