Countess Lovelace met again with Charles Babbage, but this time the great event didn’t appear in the steampunk graphic novel but our real world. Curious? Let’s keep going for Lovelace & Babbage LEGO set that boasts a steampunk computer powered by your Raspberry Pi.
The Lovelace & Babbage LEGO set is one of the most well-received LEGO projects at present at LEGO Ideas, inspired by the Analytical Engine, a mechanical computer designed by Babbage and supplemented by Ada Lovelace. The two pioneers didn’t finish the construction of the vintage computer, but now with the help of LEGO bricks, we will have the opportunity to recreate the scene in The Thrilling Adventure of Lovelace and Babbage where they have successfully built an analytical engine.
The LEGO set delivers us a steampunk styled mechanical computer and the retro LEGO computer shows off exquisite details and a few movable parts including a removable glass roof, two east access ‘service hatches’, gas lamps, and punched cards. Most importantly, the computer doubles as a Raspberry Pi case, so you can use your Raspberry Pi v2.0 to turn the LEGO model into a workable mini computer.
Of course, the project will never live without two main characters: Lovelace and Babbage LEGO minifigures. In addition, there are two bonus sets that include those interesting creatures and items that have been ready to serve them during their leisure time including pet owl, creepy bat, teddy bear, desk, inkwell, blackboard, duster, Victoria sponge, cake stand, tea cups, table, chairs and more.
The Lovelace & Babbage LEGO set has earned over 4,000 supports. It has a big chance of winning the campaign, becoming reality. If you like it, head to LEGO Ideas and support the project. BTW, also don’t miss Beatles Yellow Submarine LEGO set and more related cool stuff by following tags.
