At CES 2016 HTC announced Vive Pre, their 2th generation VR headset. With integrated front-facing camera, the VR headset lets you more freely get in of out of virtual reality world, and redesigned controllers bring you smoother operation.
HTC Vive Pre is second version of their VR headset for developers, so it’s unavailable for the public, but HTC will distribute 7,000 units to developers.
The refreshed Vive shows off a more compact design, and updated head straps provide more stability and balance when you travel in virtual reality world. Meanwhile, interchangeable foam inserts and nose gaskets allow the headset fits on different wearers.
HTC Vive Pre also features an improved visual system with brighter displays that brings you more vivid and clear images. And it comes equipped with an integrated front-facing camera in order to bring elements from real world into the VR environment or let you quickly step in the real world without removing your headset.
Furthermore, redesigned controllers with new textured buttons and grip pads provides more comfort when you interact with the virtual reality world, and integrated rechargeable batteries offer over 4 hours of runtime between charges. In addition, the HTC Vive Pre supports SteamVR. This means you can use the VR headset to enjoy VR-enabled video games from Steam, the biggest PC game platform.
