Alexa-enabled smart home hub has been integrated in COVI smart lamp, so you can interact with it via speech for controlling other smart devices or seeking answers to your questions on the internet.
The COVI is a beautifully designed and versatile smart lamp that measures 10.2 x 3.9 inches (260 x 100mm) and weighs 2 lbs (950g). The lamp features an elegant and minimal design style that allows it to complement to any interior decoration style. The compact form factor enables it to fit on any surface in your room. Meanwhile, the glass shade features a sand-blasted finish plus its anodized aluminum base in order to deliver premium modern aesthetics.
The smart hub comes equipped dual mode Bluetooth 4.0 and 2.0 and WiFi module, so it wirelessly joins in your local network and communicates with other smart devices. The COVI also works Amazon Alexa. Using its 4 MEMS microphones and a 2.5-inch tweeter, it always recognizes your voice commands, so you can simply ask your COVI questions, it will seek answers on the Internet and give you audible answers. The hub can also wirelessly connect with other smart home devices in your house. This means that you can remotely control them using your voice without having to take out your phone.
Furthermore, as a smart LED lamp, its built-in sensor makes it understand and adapt to your natural cycles, so based on different periods of the day, COVI automatically adjusts its brightness and color temperature to make you comfortable. Moreover, the lamp also reminds you of incoming calls, notifications from your smartphone or even sleeping by gently glowing. COVI also support IFTTT which allows you to create more interactions with other devices and online services. Apart from these, the smart hub is open source so other developers can easily integrate more functions or create bridges with more devices.
The team of COVI has raised ample fund to start the project via Kickstarter. We can still pledge €99 (approx US$111) to preorder the smart lamp with Alexa-enabled smart home hub. It would be shipped in August 2017 (estimated).
