Just yesterday Barnes & Noble released its latest ebook reader Nook Color. As the name implies, it’s an ebook reader equipped with color LCD touchscreen. If you’re curious, let’s go on checking.
Nook Color measures 8.1 x 5.0 x 0.48 inches, weights 15.8 ounces. apparently the new nook is a bit bigger than the Nook E-ink version. As we can see from the images, there is any button on Nook Color. Apparently our operations must be done through the 7-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Of course, a backlight is very necessary for a LCD screen. That means you can read it on the dark, but you’d better not use it in the sun.
Simultaneously, Nook Color uses Google Android, so we could call it a tablet. This also means that in addition to reading books, listening music, we can use Nook to do more things such as watching videos in MP4 format, running some apps like integrated Facebook and Twitter. Of course, this doesn’t mean you can access Android Marketplace through the ebook reader.
Moreover, Nook Color also comes with a 8GB built-in memory, microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack, built-in mono speaker. The installed rechargeable battery can offer you up to 8 hours of read time with Wi-Fi off after fully charged. For the time being, Nook Color can supports various file formats such as EPUB, PDF, XLS, DOC, PPT, PPS, TXT, JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, MP3, AAC, MP4, and more.
Well, this is Nook Color, a hybrid between ebook reader and tablet PC. Apparently it can neither replace e-ink ebook reader nor replace tablet. So we prefer old Nook with the price tag of $149 instead of the Nook Color valued at $249. More details please jump to Nook official site.
