Toshiba announced the world’s first NFC enabled SDHC memory card. Now you can use your smartphone to check the status of your memory card without needing a card reader or camera.
This is an innovative SDHC memory card that comes in three storage capacities inclusion 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. THE SDHC memory card features built-in NFC chip that allows you to conveniently check what is stored inside the card. All you need to do is just touch your NFC built-in SDHC memory card with your NFC-enabled smartphone, and custom Memory Card Preview will display the used and free space of the card, stored data type, shooting date, card name and up to 16 thumbnails of the photos stored in the memory card.
The NFC SDHC memory card will be available from February this year, but the pricing hasn’t been unveiled. If you’re interested, jump to its announcement page for more details.
It’s interesting but I use an EyeFi card in my camera that transmits the photos to my laptop by Wifi. NFC seems less useful here.
Indeed, WiFi card have an advantage over transmitting photos.
