Stainless Steel Ice Cube with Tray Set
October 6, 2011 | In: Cool Gadgets, House Life
Apparently several minifigure shaped ice cube floating in your cup don’t make you look cooler in front of your girlfriend. How? The stainless steel ice cube with tray set may be able to help you.
This is a set of 4 stainless steel ice cubes, note that, we don’t mean the ice cube tray is made of stainless steel, in fact, the tray for the ice cubes is non-toxic gel, so these are genuine stainless steel reusable cubes that allow you to make ice cubes and chill your favorite beverage. Of course, no need to take the ice cubes from the stainless steel cubes. All you need to do is just to put the metal cubes with ice in your drink for instant cooling. But be careful, don’t swallow the cubes.
The stainless steel ice cube with tray set is priced at $24.95 USD. If you’re interested, jump to KegWorks for more details. Additionally, if you need other options, you might like to check yellow submarine ice cube tray, Star Wars ice cube trays and more via “ice cube tray” tag.

I really can’t understand what these are. This was a very hard poor-written description…
[, in fact, the tray for the ice cubes is non-toxic gel] – is this relevant? Do you use the tray in any way to cool your drink?
[so these are genuine stainless steel reusable cubes that allow you to make ice cubes and chill your favorite beverage] – “so these are”? Are they ‘genuine stainless stess reusable cubes *because* the tray is made of non-toxic gel? They allow you to make ice cubes? Do you use the steel cubes TO make regular ice cubes?
[Of course, no need to take the ice cubes from the stainless steel cubes] – What?
[All you need to do is just to put the metal cubes with ice in your drink for instant cooling] – Do you put the cubes in the drink together with regular ice cubes? Do the metal cubes contain ice?
From what i have read, these are stainless steel cubes that come with a non-toxic gel tray – which obviously is relevant to the cooling effect og this product. You use these cubes to make ice cubes – BUT you do not have to take the ice cubes from the stainless steel cubes (??), then you put these cubes in your drink with regular ice – and the steel cubes may contain ice inside of them.

either you are a troll, or an idiot. The metal cubes obviously go into the freezer, and as we all know metal gets extremely cold. You then place cubes in drink and can re-use

they are for people who like whiskey. and don’t like the dilution they get when they add ice cubes (they melt and water it down). so this is a way to drink whiskey with out watering it down yet still having something to make it cold.

I understood from the images, but the article is badly written.
The cubes are just solid stainless steel. Put the cubes in the freezer. When they get cold, they can be used just as ice would be. The upside being that they don’t melt and water down the drink. The second image of the liquor in the glass is an extremely popular application. By the way, they come with a neat gel tray to store them in. The tray can also be put into the freezer without harm. The cubes will be well protected in or out of the sub-zero.
Most ‘whisky stones’ I have seen are soapstone or granite. There is a set made out of glass that is easily attainable. These stainless steel cubes are my favorite so far.
I have known people to tumble polish hard river rocks and flint for this same purpose.
A warning about these ‘whisky stones’:
Alcohol dehydrates your body. It is actually good to use real ice. While real ice waters down the flavor, that does supply some water to your liquid intake. The hangovers from drinking with fake ice all night are much worse than normally prepared drinks. Remember, there are pretzels on the bar for a reason, and it’s ok to grab a glass of water now and again. You will thank yourself in the morning.

Of course I understood what these were. But the description was so badly written that I started doubting my own assumption.

I will agree that the description sucks ass, read the first paragraph. Also I saw some ones that were made of a stone material and that seems like it would be better because skin kinda sticks to metal when its really cold, especially lips and tounges

While these do look pretty fuckin rad, what happens if my drink gets jostled for some reason? Steel being harder than glass and all, I worry about broken glasses and cut hands.

This is a stupid product. Ice is good for cooling drinks because water absorbs ALOT of energy when it melts/warms up, thus keeping the whiskey cold. Metals have a much lower specific heat, meaning that it doesn’t absorb nearly as much energy when it is warmed up by the whiskey, and thus probably don’t keep the whiskey cold for very long, if it all.

Putting steelcubes into any good whiskey/scotch would absolutly alter the taste. That’s why one uses a glass tool to stir or mix. Useless hippster crap.

I agree with bob. Its like beer out of a bottle and beer out of a can. If it was made out of a specific metal that caused a taste reaction then may we would have something here. Not to say that I wouldn’t try it though.
